The primary thing I think was they reduced the amount of the carry melt treatment a little. The basic difference between Series II and pre-series II (like yours) is the Series II guns have a Swartz firing pin safety. I have an Ultra Carry, and the Compact CDP. Difference in size being the lenggth of the barrell. They both have a shorter grip than a standard 45, which makes them easier to conceal. The Kimber SIS Ultra 3" 45acp, was my first of this type of pistol (1911, 45acp). Honestly, I was quite please with how manageble the recoil was. But my example may not be the best because mine weighs 31oz vs the other 24-26oz Kimbers.I chose the CDP for the following reasons. 1) Lighter (easier to carry) How so, they are both aluminum framed but just the slide is stainless on the Stainless UC-II! 2) Melt job (less chance of clothes snag) Not a concern and the cost difference is way to much just for a melt job. Although nice, it is not needed.

I just got a Kimber Ultra Carry 2 and I am having constant feed problems. I just got the gun two days ago and fired it for the first time.
